For Immediate Release
June 29, 2011, Majuro:
The Marshall Islands Visitors Authority is pleased to announce that the Marshalls Billfish Club’s Annual July Fishing Tournament, celebrating its 29nd year, has been scheduled for July 1-2, 2011. This tournament is held annually in conjunction with the National Fishermen’s Day holiday, a day to honor all of the Marshallese fishermen.
The tournament holds two categories: Trolling (marlin, tuna, wahoo, etc.) with total pounds, and bottom fishing (snappers, groupers, etc.) with total pounds also. With over $10,000 in prizes, this is an opportunity not to be missed. A 337 lb. Pacific Blue Marlin caught during the 2010 28th Annual July Fishing Tournament currently holds the tournament record marlin. With that in mind, the Marshall Islands Billfish Club insures the tournament record marlin for $10,000, a prize sure to convey a vision of excellent big-game fishing opportunities in the Marshall Islands 700,000 square miles of ocean!
